Todai ji Temple at Nara
It was nice sunny morning on Wednesday the 27th. Our coach with all 40 people started from Agor International Hotel, Osaka for Nara at around 10 am in the morning. We had nice breakfast in the morning. Of course it was limited to cereals, bread and eggs and not any Japanese. It was about 2 hours drive including almost 1 hour in traffic jam due to some accident.
This was our first temple in the visit. It has a Buddha statue of about 50 feet tall. The temple is from 18th century while the Buddha statue is apparently from 8th century. The temple was reconstructed in 18th century.
Surprisingly we found a Ashok Stambh near Todai ji temple. It is on the right of the temple. It was established in 1988 to commemorate the thousand priest service.
